Aspiring Gardener's- Watch How You Water
Welcome to Little Red Hen's weekly plant advice column. Plants and happiness go hand in hand, and we are here to help you keep yours healthy.
Obviously it's important to water right now. We can't stress this enough. However, how you water is also important.Due to extreme heat during the day, watering should be done early in the morning or late in the evening. Currently, Cal Water has a Water Shortage Contingency Plan in effect that limits what days watering can be done as well as limits watering hours to between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m.
It all boils down to what your address is. Addresses that end in an even number can be watered on Wednesdays and Sundays. Addresses ending in an odd number can be watered on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Obviously, the heat can cause a lot of problems when it comes to gardening, and watering is just the tip of the iceberg. In the future, we will offer advice on more heat related problems, so check back every Thursday. Unfortunately, this heat isn't going away anytime soon, but neither are we.
