Hooray for Houseplants
Having houseplants around you at home or even at work carry with them a whole host of health benefits.
Studies have shown that houseplants improve concentration and productivity, reduce stress levels, and boost your mood. Houseplants also produce oxygen and reduce carbon monoxide levels. While most plants only produce oxygen during the day, smaller plants like succulents have been shown to do so 24-7, ensuring to help you sleep more soundly through the night.
In the workplace, use plants with broad leaves, as these can help regulate humidity. The foliage also reminds us of being outdoors, which leads to feeling more relaxed, helping your overall mood throughout the workday.
Stress is every bit as psychological as it is physical. Reducing your stress level can also combat feelings of depression and loneliness. This is especially true when the lack of sunshine causing us to become more depressed when it is often cold and rainy outside. This is sometimes known as "winter depression."
